The XX Seattle Concert Review
Yeah so I love the XX to a point. I get the marketing and the stylistic parts of it and the musical parts as well. The are the best Neo-white soul group out that I have heard of. I love the idea of a musical romantic journey and we all know how much of a fucking romantic fucker I am. I love romance as much as love. I do, fuck it, sue me. I got insurance for that. So I had five girls ditch on it. I mean WTH. I cant even get a legit date for the hottest band in town for the weekend. Oh the Madonna show sucked. The thing about XX is that they are the niche band of all time. They have popular radio airplay to a point, I think more-so on the first album versus the new one Coexist. I didn’t know how much I was going to love the lead singer. The premise is this is about the music and a minimalism that has a depth. It is a depth of emotion, of breathing and feeling and complex beats and atmospheric keyboards with drawn out guitar and bass notes that is amazing and actually genuine or I am just that pitiful this means something to me. At this point who cares. Hell, I felt bad for the ticket scalpers. They got hosed. If they(fans) didn’t get tickets they didn’t come. It was silly actually. The great thing about XX is they have 2 albums so a concert is no brainier. THEY gonna play all the songs…PERIOD. It is which songs the gonna make long. reunion was one I didn’t like. It is okay. I liked her more than him, ESPECIALLY the song song “Sunset” it was so moving and deeply haunting. I sent it to my niece and I might play it here. my problem is the mofos that came. The affliction crowd and the screamer chick and that whistling dude that finally stopped whistling the beat out. Thank you for the guy not far from you that said we don’t need you to whistle the beat out like a catcall. Jesus I hope your homies kick your ass later. Douche bag. All you girls that were there with your dick in the cages and glass boxes and shit there were tons. I want to give out a shout out to the mother and teenage daughter who felt the need to get grab my ass and push on it. I got line drive shot of singer. you know one of those like holy shit we are looking into each other eyes type things. I really got to see a show. Straight channel shot, with a 3 foot perimeter. I most likely won’t dance but I like the space in case I do. good show. Not great. Not earth shattering but a solid performance. But, the whole time I am thinking about Mal. I mean she is OK, but it was hairy I guess. I don’t know anything. I get it. but I don’t. So yeahhh I was so excited to see her and really like get to know her and wanted to, but i think it is over. The stage show was very much like the album minimalism with the lighting and to the point that of even not showing their faces in the spotlight. The coexist image is beautiful with the oil and water motif. Something so basic but with a beauty that is sublime. I think you should go to grooveshark and check them out.
